New Moon in Libra: Relating to and from the Healer Within

The opening of the Hunter’s Moon phase highlights the Libra lessons of reciprocity within relationships. It is a time of promoting peace between beings, especially as the worldwide Wild Hunt drums up ghosts of the past now and for years ahead. 

This brings us to our everyday interactions with others as points of initiation to restore harmony in the world. If the give-and-receive is far from equal in our partnerships, now is the time to focus your intent for the month ahead on creating more peace through relating. Adding some perspective to these Libra lessons is Chiron’s opposition to the luminaries from Aries.

Chiron in Aries has been in effect for about a year already, highlighting the ‘healer, heal thyself’ wisdom. Many who were born between 1969 and 1977, when Chiron was last in Aries, are navigating a full circle of healing their personal wounds of identity integrity and self-reliance. Others of us may feel less personally pressed, but are still influenced by the overall message of self-healing being sent by Chiron for the next several years. In this particular lunation, Chiron and the luminaries are highlighting the Aries-Libra axis of relating from self to other with reciprocal care. It does take constant effort to maintain some semblance of balance in relationships...but when the balance is off, that’s when we know something is needing to transform, often through a shift of perspective.

At this time, Pluto is stationing to shift into direct motion soon (October 3rd)...and this big shift tends to bring out themes of transformation in ways that cannot be denied. After all, you can transform Pluto’s astronomical status to that of a ‘dwarf planet’, but Pluto’s planetary power is no less palpable.  The U.S. has been feeling this in a big way as we move ever closer to our country’s Pluto Return. 

When Pluto stations, all manner of things that have been hidden can be unearthed and brought to a distinct focus. Deep-seated fears and shadows may arise to be dealt with in transformative ways. It’s all part of a process of releasing what no longer serves us as we head toward the Saturn-Pluto conjunction on January 12^th next year...where things get REALLY real. Best to deal with what arises now than to put it all off for later.

In some cases, certain things, ideas, ways of being, or relationships may need to come to an end so that new beginnings can happen.  Guiding us to do just that is Saturn, meeting up again with the South Lunar Node this weekend (as he did previously on July 4^th). Saturn conjunct the South Node gets serious about releasing past issues and committing to a sense of closure. This allows us to manifest future potentials if we do the hard work it entails. There’s a lot of what is no longer necessary that has piled up for us to sift through. Best to look at it through an objective lens and release some attachments to what isn’t working for the long haul.

New Moon opposite Chiron encourages the Healer within each of us to take on what is required of us. This is a time to honor that we’re all facing similar realizations and releases of fears and doubts.  And while we are each healing our personal wounds...we have to heal the collective wounds together.

Full Moon in Pisces: Dreaming into Being

This is the Harvest season in our Northern Hemisphere, and Springtime in the South. The lead up to what we call the Harvest Moon here brings in a strong desire for necessary change. Of course, not everyone desires the same kind of change...and some desires are strongly opposed to others. On the grand scale, we’re still dealing with the same old oppositions...exacerbated now by an acceleration of long-running issues coming to call on humanity’s conscience.

If we’re listening to the balance between the luminaries right now, what we’ll hear is the Virgo-Pisces message of being in service to something greater than ourselves. It has been echoed by the Virgo Stellium’s opposition to Neptune this month...strengthened now as Virgo Mars exacts this opposition at the beginning of another Synodic Journey (“New Mars” initiated on September 2nd). We’re dreaming something into being, and the Virgo energy wants us to be lucid enough to guide the flow of that Neptunian dream to a healthy place for our planet.

Pluto, the planet of Group Alteration, assists us in transforming the dream through beneficial aspects to the luminaries. The Lunar Nodes help us tap into the opportunities to align with the collective soul path through a beneficial pattern with Mars-Neptune called a Mystic Rectangle. This pattern can often create an aperture for creativity or blessings to flow, especially if we put some effort into working with others for mutual benefit.

But it is the more dynamic aspects this month that have continually inclined us to push ourselves toward meaningful change. The planet of action (Mars), the energy within us that provides the impetus for change, is now in an active balance with the planet of extrasensory wisdom (Neptune), our mystic connection to the Higher Heart within. And both are channeling the hard work of this balance into dynamic squares with the planet of expansion (Jupiter), our inner Guru.

At this Full Moon, our Luminaries in conjunction with the Mars-Neptune opposition illuminate a key lesson in this balance that Jupiter is amplifying and Pluto is supporting: inspired action, beyond belief, is necessary for collective transformation.

And with Moon so close to her apogee (farthest from Earth in her orbit), we might feel a bit small, like we don’t have much impact. We might feel a bit distant from the crux of what brought our world to such turmoil, even if we know we are part of the problem. But, distant as she is, the Moon reminds us we are also part of the solution. Pisces Moon sings of oneness...and of fusing together all the disparate parts of the whole.

But how do we fix things? Not an uncommon question, these days, especially lately with so many planets in Virgo. We see disparate parts seemingly scattered in every direction we look. In the transition from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius, separation is a prevalent theme. But if we look closer...if we allow ourselves to peer beyond what we’ve learned of duality and right into the heart of what’s happening, we can catch a glimpse of the illusion that separation is. And it echoes something we often hear: We are all one. The question is...can we allow ourselves to move beyond the illusions we see enough to believe in unity?

One way you can see it is that a reflection of what’s happening on the outside is happening on the inside. On the individual level, we’ve all got our own version of this call for necessary change...some version of being out-of-alignment that makes it difficult to ignore within us. The scale of that change that is demanding attention within us may be a few relatively subtle tweaks to our individual business-as-usual lives...or, more likely, it may be something more drastic...even a total upheaval from what we’ve become used to. Just going through the motions to get by isn’t cutting it now. There’s an activation stirring in the collective, and a Full Moon in Pisces heightens our ability to pick up on these unseen vibrations.

Every one of us is in need of a change that will bring some re-alignment. Even every small change can have a big impact. Change absolutely has a ripple effect. So whatever it is for you that this Virgo Stellium has been calling for from you (and for some, Virgo might sound more like a nagging demand this month)...know that the intent behind the call serves a greater remedy. Because without each one of us operating at a more efficient level than where we have been...we won’t be well prepared for the greater changes to come.

Essentially, the Virgo-Pisces call for service is a symbiotic flow that reaches into the microcosms within our physical bodies and out into the collective macrocosms beyond our spheres of awareness. The vibration of these energies in alignment is a finely-tuned sound healing that can be heard over any din. Imagine the effect if more of us sung our most powerful note. Perhaps you’ve already noticed that Mother Nature holds this frequency.

How can we harvest the gifts that this Harvest Moon brings us now (or plant new beginnings in the Southern Hemisphere)? The Mother Moon is not as distant as she may seem. Moon is conjunct Neptune Retrograde on this Friday the 13^th (a powerful day for Mama Luna)...and when Neptune is opposite Sun, this out-of-sight planet is closer to us than usual. So our Moon also reflects the closeness of what is unknown. This can show us that objects in the mirror (or goals in sight) are closer than they appear. It can also heighten our awareness of any illusions we’ve been under.

Gratitude for our earthly gifts, as well as sharing them with others, is an integral interaction with any Harvest. We can ‘draw down the Moon’ with that same Harvest Medicine. Thank her for the light she reflects through the lengthening nights here in the North. Invite her to illuminate you from within. Share her wisdom through your interaction with life on Earth. For some, it is a ritual we know well. For others, perhaps a more foreign concept. But it can be as subtle or as powerful as you need it to be.

In drawing down the Moon’s wisdom for our world in need of change, it will take some effort from each of us. Some of us may have to go to a place that is far removed from what we know. Many of us carrying her light will face the challenge of integrating that message of unified change into humanity’s awareness through our own example. No matter how clear we each are with the piece of her wisdom we receive, there is always the potential for it to get lost in translation. So it is important to live it by example more than to simply proclaim it as truth.

A coat of arms is part of a system of hereditary symbols that dates back to early medieval Europe. Initially, such heraldry was to establish identity in battle. Later, arms evolved to denote family decent, alliance, ownership, and even profession. In modern day, even a company logo has elements of such symbolism. With the Sun here, this symbol speaks of carrying something of value from one’s ancestors or others who have passed on a certain legacy to you. What is illuminated here is a responsibility to live up to higher standards for ourselves and be an example of integrity for others, especially our next generations. Perhaps it’s your ancestors supporting you in being the best version of yourself, or perhaps it is your family or company that wants you to set a good example. Perhaps, for all of us, it is every being who ever lived before us raising our awareness of this crucial time we’re coming to in our lifetime. Whatever it is, there is a noble cause within each of us that is coming to light...and we are being encouraged to shine.

Both of these luminary symbols during this Full Moon hold these higher frequencies. However, there are some difficult energies involved that can muddle the meaning and incline people toward acting on exaggerated emotions, unhealthy belief systems, over-inflated egos, or overwhelming confusion. A growing to-do list might have your head swimming, feeling the weight of obligations. Forcing others to abide by unfair rules may overshadow the underlying need for a change. Self-importance may get in the way of leadership that serves the whole. We may see some socio-political issues get worse before they get better...because there has been a subtle opportunity opening for mutual benefit this week, but such things often get disregarded by those who are drunk with power.

But if we, leading up to the Full Moon, shift our perspective to that opportunity for shared benefit through internal transformation...we’ll be better able to receive the Harvest with gratitude. No matter the hemisphere you live in, abundance is coming. So where our attention goes is where that abundance flows. Better to pool your energy into something you actually want to amplify than on the illusions of separation that are running rampant lately.

Harvest Moon begins with high vibrations of Virgo, bringing in the energy of the Priestess to tend the temple of Body and Earth. With such a concentration of this Earth Medicine, it is likely we’ll take a good look at things and see what is and isn’t working efficiently. Virgo gives our celestial bodies a discerning eye for detail and a dedication to doing what is necessary for the world. This same light shines on us through our Virgo Sun, and we put our power into practice.

The Virgo Stellium

Our Luminaries are joined by Mercury, Juno, Mars, and Venus into a Stellium (conjunction of multiple planets) in Virgo. So themes of communication and commitment in both masculine and feminine expression are integral to the seed that will grow through this Harvest Moon cycle.

Mars brings in the beginnings of a new level of physical training for our Masculine expression that will serve us well this cycle, and Venus brings in the element of unveiling our Feminine expression in a new light.

The Uranus Retrograde Trine

The harmonious trine of Uranus to this Virgo Stellium can add an agreeable element of surprise and revelation to this New Moon. Trines are a subtle energy, so easy-going that we may not even notice the creative harmony floating around us. But if we become aware of it...such as a new version of an idea arising out of the blue that innovates what we’re trying to work on...we might catch a lucky break. This symbol relates to a story in the bible where Jesus trusts a woman who is far-removed from the old order to reveal who he is to her. This symbol is future-oriented and reveals a change coming. If we are open to it, as the Samaritan woman was, we may witness a glimpse into the creative future.

The Ceres-Hygeia T-Square

Hygeia in Gemini 9: “a quiver filled with arrows”

Pressing in on the center of this Virgo Stellium is Ceres, the Nurturer, in opposition with Hygeia, the Purifier. Moon, Sun, and Mars are called to act as the apex of this T-Square pattern...where the tension of the opposition pools into necessary action. For many, health matters will be pressed. The struggle may be between a need to enjoy life in the moment and a need to prepare for what may be coming. The actions we take to alleviate this tension will need both...somehow we will need to find better ways of taking care of ourselves and preventing illness that we can actually enjoy. Many of the planetary energies suggest physical activity, such as playing sports or dancing. Even more than that, though, is the need for working together with others in healthier ways.

Full Moon in Aquarius: Out of the Ordinary, Into the New

Moon opposite Sun- 8/15/19 @ 7:29am CDT

This Full Moon (called the Grain Moon, Corn Moon, Green Corn Moon, or Sturgeon Moon, depending on what is most plentiful at this time in your particular region…obviously for those of us in the heartland, corn and grain is most appropriate) comes at a time of giving thanks for all that our Earth provides. August begins with Lughnasadh, the first of three harvest holidays on the wheel of the year, and this moon holds that energy of reaping what we have sown in previous months.

In Aquarius, this moon illuminates awareness on many levels, and also holds the energy of Buddhist detachment exemplified in the phrase ‘suffering is caused by attachment to impermanent things’. The Moon is the luminary associated with the physical and, especially, emotional realms…while Aquarius is the sign associated with detachment to such things and transcending into the mental and spiritual realms. In this light, our physical and emotional reactions, symptoms, and attachments are cropping up all over our awareness. And yet, we are still feeling the urge to detach and pull out into a more expanded view of Cosmic Consciousness. Essentially, we are trying to understand what we currently see as reality in a new way...a perspective that can make sense of the many things that we deal with inside of our human bubble which are dissonant with our souls’ true intent.

This Full Moon activates an intuitive response from the 23^rd degree of the Leo-Aquarius axis, the energies of fixed fire and fixed air. This is an axis of encouraging and directing our unique self-mastery in ways that strengthen the collective contributions of humanity as a whole. The vibrations on this axis can be very creative and inventive. It depends on how we tap in, of course. If we’re not being true to our authentic expression of Self, it can feel very lonely in that tower of our fixed (and so often conditioned) ideas. We might do well to examine what we’re really trying to express before we get stuck in our separateness.

In another extreme expression of what this vibration can incline, some may be confronted with their own fixed tendency toward spiritual bypass. A large part of our reason for being here, on Earth, at this time is to confront and address the shadow of humanity and all that arises from the dark. No matter how much we want it to be true, not everything is all ‘Love and Light’. It’s absolutely essential to radiate such frequencies throughout our collective consciousness...but not as a way to separate ourselves from the dense heaviness of our world and ‘peace out’. Our Love and Light is best used as a deep embrace of the shadows that arise from the human drama. In this, a necessary transformation occurs that leads to awakening.

As Venus has been telling us for months now, you can’t ascend until you descend into the dark to transform. On the 14^th, Sun and Venus met up for their Exterior Conjunction in Leo. At the time of this Full Moon, the two are still closely conjunct. The depths of Venusian medicine are hidden within the bright energies of this time. She’s in the unseen realms of the ‘Otherworld’ behind our Sun, transmuting from her previous Morning Star expression to her coming Evening Star expression. At this time, we are feeling the powerful effect that letting go of previous attachments can have. Our values may be dramatically changing. Our understanding and expression of love may be deepening. It is likely that you have had to say goodbye this year to some things you’d grown used to or fond of (including some relationships). It can be painful and messy...especially when the heart wants nothing more than to stay connected to what once was. But some changes can’t be avoided. And so we find new perspectives to reframe our understanding of the essential thread of love that carries through when “times they are a-changin’”.

Mars is also hidden behind the sun, approaching conjunction with Venus (on 8-24) and Sun (on 9-2). His Leonine energy of fiery action is also happening in the unseen realms at this time. We can tap into this Divine Masculine expression by exploring the depths of our ability to create what we desire.

In a dynamic T-square to this Leo-Aquarius axis highlighted now, the asteroid Vesta is in the 23^rd degree of Taurus. The tension of the Full Moon opposition to Sun-Venus-Mars may accumulate in the fixed earth expression of Vesta in Taurus. This is the asteroid of the Priestess, and her archetype is stressed in the storyline of this time. What Vesta provides is dedication and focus for all the necessary tasks that need to be taken care of at this time. If we tap into her Priestess Wisdom, we can embody the kind of dedication it takes to focus on the tasks at hand. We will have to be aware, of course, that we will have a tendency to overwork ourselves to physical exhaustion if we take on too much at once though. With Taurus energy at the apex of this dynamic pattern, ‘slow and steady’ (but not stuck) is a good pace to keep in mind.

The Sabian Symbols of this Full Moon bring up some common threads of focus. Each relates to our animal nature, and how we relate to or from it. The symbols also relate to our root chakra connection at the base of our spine. The balance we need in order to perform our self-mastery within the collective starts at our root. We may be expressing in ways that are out of the ordinary realms of what others might expect from us. It can be like trying to find new ways to express something to others who speak a different language. We are challenged with becoming more demonstrative in our expression so that we can connect. In order to wave all paws and demonstrate our abilities, we must first connect to our root...what plants us firmly on the Earth.

Sun-Venus in Leo 23

Sabian Symbol- “A bareback rider”

This is daring and courageous energy firing up our vitality at this time. Bareback riders are intimately connected from the base of the spine (the root) to the spine of the horse. This is a symbol of becoming one with our animal nature and harnessing the power that can come from such a connection. Bareback riders, too, rely on balance and skill to demonstrate their mastery. If we approach this energy with unbalanced recklessness, we are likely to fall hard. Vesta reminds us, with her square, that we need to hold our focus on all we’ve learned through dedicated practice...putting that power into good use.

New Moon in Leo: Inspiration for the Fires of Lughnasadh

This New Moon, the beginning of the Grain Moon cycle, initiates a new season we celebrate with fire festivals. The Four Fire Festivals that celebrate our seasons are Imbolc (Winter becoming Spring), Beltane (Spring becoming Summer), Lughnasadh (Summer becoming Fall), and Samhain (Fall becoming Winter). In the Northern Hemisphere, we enter the Fall (firing up the beginnings of Harvest)...while in the Southern Hemisphere, they enter the Spring (firing up the beginnings of Renewal). No matter where we are on Earth, this is a time of giving and receiving gratitude for what has transformed throughout the past season. Our friends in the Southern Hemisphere have endured the Long Nights and we in the North have endured the Strong Sun. This doesn’t mean we don’t see the effects of the cold or the heat at these times. But this is the promise of the new phase entering our awareness. That is what we celebrate when we connect to these Earthly cycles.

Many of my ancestors knew this Festival of the First Harvest as Lughnasadh, a celebration of the Sun King, Lugh. In honor of this festival my family and I celebrate from sunset of July 31^st to sunset of August 7^th, I call the lunar cycle in August the Grain Moon. In the homelands of my Earthwalk in this body of mine...this Moon has names like Green Corn Moon or Dog Days Moon (referring to the days when Sirius, the Dog Star, amplifies the Sun’s radiance). These names resonate as well, in relation to what I learn from Earth and Sky where I live.

In the Grain Moon cycle, we begin to harvest the fruits of our labor under the fixed fire of the Sun in mid-Leo. On August 7^th, Sun reaches 15 degrees of Leo...which is Celestial Lughnasadh. This is why the Kavi family celebrates this festival of fire for the first week of August, rather than just one calendar day.

This Lughhasadh (pronounced LU-na-sa, and often spelled ‘Lunasa’ too), my husband and I are embarking on a ‘Wagons West’ road trip with our kids to visit family in Oregon. This is also a 10 year anniversary trip, where we’ll be returning to one of the destinations of our Honeymoon road trip down the West Coast. Our kids haven’t been there with us yet, so they’ll be celebrating an initiatory journey with us as their guides. As we camp under the stars each night along our journey to Oregon, we’ll be sharing gratitude for the blessings of the season.

While we are all entering this New Moon in different ways, each experience brings something to celebrate. In light of the Solar sign of Leo, I encourage you to tap into inspired creativity and joyful self-expression.

Mercury stations Direct several minutes after Moon conjuncts Sun, and invites the Collective Mind to take pause before re-directing our thoughts forward in new ways. Here, we are focused on the message in Cancer 24 that was first activated on June 20^th. Now we see it in a new light, quieting our minds around it and allowing it to sink in. This wisdom we received in our Mercury Retrograde loop back from Leo to Cancer (between July 7^th and August 31^st) now plays out through the next two weeks to integrate the ideas from June 20^th to July 7^th that needed revision.

In our Leo New Moon/Cancer Mercury Station focus (as July becomes August), we reflect upon how we grew in heart-centered wisdom this past season (which included powerful eclipses of the Sun and Moon). We’ll have much to discuss with our loved ones, but it is also wise to hold space for the mind to find stillness. In this meditative pause, we are receiving a powerful message from the Universe. Whatever your piece of the message, in the coming weeks you will be bringing it forward into the rewards (or renewal) of this season.

Two symbols are prevalent at this time, that of our luminaries in Leo 9 and that of Mercury stationed in Cancer 24. Below, the Sabian Symbols of these degrees are illuminated...but there are other cosmic vibrations in play at this time as well.

Venus in Leo 5 is conjunct this New Moon, bringing to this lunar cycle a new way of relating with what we love and value as our Collective Feminine transforms behind the Sun. This fiery Leo stellium of Moon-Sun-Venus is in a fire trine to Chiron Retrograde in Aries 6, connecting a harmonious channel for healing with Self-Love.

The Leo Stellium is also in a fixed square to Uranus in Taurus 7. This is the degree Uranus is slowly pausing in now to eventually station retrograde on August 11^th. In its higher vibrations, this activation of Uranus with Venus and the New Moon can bring enlightening revelations about the spiritual source of the power within our earthly bodies. Earth (Taurus) and Fire (Leo) activates what inspires us to move and create in the world around us. This square challenges us to put such inspiration into physical manifestation. Lower vibrations of this fixed square can involve stubborn resistance to necessary change squaring off with a restless dissatisfaction with how things are...a recipe for volatility. But, ultimately, this is a highly creative and innovative vibration. It is best used in ways that inspire us to do what needs done throughout the Grain Moon.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is ‘glass blowers’. This is a symbol of bringing inspiration into new form. Glass blowers take the physical remains of the past (sand), heat it the activating fires of transformation, and shape it into a new form with the breath of life force energy.

This artistic process originated with the Syrians around the 1^st century BCE and has inspired many cultures to create beautiful (as well as useful) glassware.

This degree symbol suggests that we use our skills and the tools available to breathe life into whatever project we are initiating in this Grain Moon cycle. Whether we are taking grains of sand to create glass, grains of the first harvest to create bread, or grains of ideas to create something new in our lives...allow yourself to be inspired.

I have had the pleasure of watching a friend create beautiful pieces of glass, and what was most apparent was the focus it took to bring this process to a finished product. A whole festival was moving and sounding off around him, yet he was able to focus in on his craft with expert concentration. Focus is a Latin word which means ‘hearth’...which again brings up the fire of inspiration. Focus is also exactly what Mercury brings us when stationing to re-direct.

Mercury in Cancer 24

The Sabian Symbol for this degree is ‘a woman and two men, castaways on a small island in the South Seas’. In this pause, we are contemplating the road ahead. We have some options to consider. We may feel pressed for immediate response, but there is need for this reflective pause. In order to move forward, we will be integrating the emotional, mental, and spiritual parts of our minds toward an inter-dependent resolution.

For those feeling this Mercury station strongest...there may be some triangulation dynamics to understand, or some decision looming that is as weighty as choosing between two equally dear, but individually different, lovers. As the Interior Conjunction of Sun and Mercury on the 21st illuminated, the purpose of this Mercury revisit is to see a different perspective as we weigh our options. Moving forward, in the epilogue portion of Mercury’s retrograde journey, we will be integrating these lessons as Mercury starts regaining forward movement.  First we must quiet the mind and sync in to its medicine.

We opened this Eclipse Portal two weeks ago with a call for laughter toward the illusion of separation...a very effective way to dispel the myths of that shadow.  However, there are some things even a Sacred Clown won't laugh at...and we were faced with many of them.  In the face of true tragedy, the Sacred Clown offers compassion and guidance toward renewal of spirit.  We may have experienced the sharing of laughter, or we may have experienced the sharing of tears.  For some, it was both of those medicines.  What has been most important is what we shared of this experience with others.  For some, it was life-changing.  As the Blessing Moon wanes, we continue this compassionate care (for ourselves and others) with a better understanding of the lessons in this time.  These lessons come to full circle at this Lunar Eclipse.

This Full Blessing Moon carries an eclipsed reflection on tradition and culture. The shadows of material comfort may loom heavy on the horizon. But there is a powerful magic beyond the appearance of our collective shadow. It is grounded wisdom, rooted in ancestral story-weaving, and connects us from Earth to Sky. There is a spiritual dimension to this connection, and one that we can integrate into community in the next 6 months through everyday efforts to provide comfort and understanding in the face of our fears.

This Partial Lunar Eclipse will bring up the shadow of power, and fears of powerlessness. We are already seeing the shadow theme within the eclipse cauldron playing out. It began, in the Total Solar Eclipse in Cancer, with feelings of separation. In our personal lives, many of us may have been feeling lost, isolated, stuck, or just generally uncomfortable during this Eclipse Season. Saturn and Pluto Retrograde at the Capricorn South Node is an enduring process of structural deterioration and renewal in our society as a response to our karmic past. Feeling defeated, but then having to prove otherwise, is part of the collective transfiguration of this time. These feelings have been exacerbated politically by scapegoating those in need of safety and comfort as ‘the other’ who will infringe upon safety and comfort, resulting in rampant xenophobia and racism. What have we been learning about pushing others away? Does it ever help?

This shadow theme carries through to now...when we face the shadow of power. Pluto Retrograde conjunct the Eclipsed Moon heightens the mob mentality and the dark underbelly of our society. Memories of cruelty from past eclipses in this series (Saros 139) have been resurfacing...from propaganda against ethnic groups to the aftermath of racial internment. Why do we humans, as a whole, never fully learn from our most haunting mistakes?

Many mistakes die with our Ancestors, the Descendants of which are then tasked to carry them onward and transform them with grace. Some of us never learn, as we continue to carry them and let them play out unconsciously through our beliefs and actions. Capricorn Wisdom right now (held by the current Council of Elders: Saturn Rx, Pluto Rx, and Moon...all at their Descending (South) Nodes) says we need to compost those old mistakes into renewal for our Earth. And more of us grow in grace as we feel the wisdom of this guidance. May we all release the grip of the shadows of this season and reveal the medicine within this Eclipse Cauldron we stirred together.

Sun in Cancer 25 “A willful man is overshadowed by a descent of superior power”.

In this Eclipse of the Sun’s light reflected by the Moon, we will at first face the shadow within the willful hubris of human attempts at power and success. As our collective shadow falls away again, what is revealed is the blessing of something much greater than us that reminds us of our integral responsibility to care for our Earth. Destiny can be revealed in this light, something that is vital to the welfare of our world. Individually, we will need to peer into this light, through our own shadow, and find ourselves. In that, we find renewal of care and purpose to share this Eclipse medicine with those in need. Each of us has the potential to be a vessel for heart healing. The more of us who accept this, the more of us there are to heal our world.

Sun and Venus are at the Moon’s Ascending (North) Node in Cancer, bringing in the vitality of Love to face the Darkness. This is the medicine of actualizing our potential for Soul Growth. Individually, we have the opportunity to take in what nourishes us. Collectively, we have the opportunity to radiate the essence of Love in our world and heal those old mistakes.

Venusian themes in the compassionate waters of Cancer will be prevalent now as Venus disappears from our view into the rays of the Sun and approaches her own transformation from Morning Star to Evening Star. Following this Lunar Eclipse, Venus will make some very important aspects. Soon after, she will exact her opposition with Saturn Rx. This is an important vibration at this Full Moon that asks us to take responsibility for how we relate, and make a commitment to Love even through hardship. Then Venus conjuncts the North Node, activating the Soul’s Path. Next comes a trine to Neptune Rx where we can harmonize in compassionate, creative waters. Then Venus comes into opposition with Pluto, to accept transformation with grace...followed by her conjunction with Mercury Rx to respond with caring communication in new ways.

All of these post-eclipse Venus in Cancer lessons are with retrogrades. We are challenged to face our past with a loving perspective so that we may find the heart of the matter and embrace it. It isn’t easy, but necessary. This is the hidden blessing within this Blessing Moon. As we discover it for ourselves, may we help others to find it in the coming months.
